On January 19, ROI’s Ready Schools District Coordinators visited Vincennes University and the University of Southern Indiana to explore learning environments for students pursuing pathways in engineering, manufacturing, and machining.
District coordinators toured VU’s Advanced CNC Machining & Programming facilities and the Hurco Training Center (HTC) used by students pursuing pathways in automated manufacturing and machining.
VU students program, machine, and inspect complex 2, 3, 4, and 5-axis projects in the CAD/CAM lab, using the latest version of Mastercam. Projects are designed to make use of the latest in high-speed machining, in collaboration with companies specializing in die making, mold making, aerospace, medical, and the motorsports industry.
District coordinators also toured USI’s Applied Engineering Center used by students pursuing pathways in industrial, mechanical, and manufacture engineering. The Applied Engineering Center is a 16,000-square-foot facility that offers a number of industry-standard manufacturing equipment. Capabilities include prototyping, 3D scanning and printing, metalworking, printed circuit board fabrication and automation.
