Organization and Program Overview
The mission of ROI is to advance economic and community prosperity in the 11 counties of the Indiana Uplands (Brown, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Greene, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Orange, Owen, and Washington counties). ROI is growing potential and possibility through a focus on advanced industry sectors, regionalism, transformative school and workforce redesign, and placemaking strategies.
The Director will lead ROI’s career-connected learning initiatives within the ROI education and workforce strategic portfolio. Career-connected learning initiatives include innovative K-12 pathway strategies and career-connected work-based learning programming. This includes ROI’s UpSkill Work & Learn youth apprenticeship program, Career Coaching Fellowship, and a regional career coaching community of practice.
The position requires vision for strategic growth and knowledge of the new Indiana high school diploma and related work-based learning requirements. The position also requires grant management skills that include grant writing and budget management. In addition, candidates must possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, stellar communication skills, a drive for developing healthy and productive relationships with employers and regional partners, and a passion and curiosity for solving complex systemic challenges.
The primary responsibility will be to work with the ROI team, K-12 schools, employers, post-secondary institutions, and community organizations in the region to build the capacity for high-quality career-connected learning.
Core Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Vice President of Talent Development.
- Leads the career-connected learning team, which currently includes two UpSkill Student Success Managers (SSMs) and one Career Connections Project Coordinator.
- Leads work related to carrying out the goals for the current career-connected learning initiatives:
- UpSkill youth apprenticeship program and the new Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP)
- Career coaching initiatives, including the Career Coaching Fellowship, the career coaching community of practice, and related career coaching grant management
- Fiscal management and reporting of grants related to this position’s initiatives
- Provides thoughtful and responsive support as needs arise, including working closely across entities to problem-solve unique challenges.
- Plans, organizes, and implements successful career connection strategies.
- Facilitates professional development and stakeholder convenings.
- Diligently tracks and analyzes data to streamline processes as programs grow.
- Regularly works in a collaborative manner with the entire education & workforce team and other education & workforce directors.
- Collaborates with broader ROI and Community Foundation staff to ensure mission alignment, efficiencies, and non-duplicative efforts.
- Serves as a connection to state-level resources.
- Actively participates in related or relevant state-wide initiatives in order to further the Indiana Uplands region.
