About Eric Baird

Eric Baird is the SVP/Chief Lending Officer at Owen County State Bank based at their Hwy 46 & Arlington Road branch in Bloomington.  He has a diverse background with 25+ years of C&I and Commercial Real Estate lending experience in multiple areas including credit, underwriting, lending, and management.  Growing up in Salem, Indiana, he moved to Central Florida in the late 80’s to work in his family’s mobile home business after working towards a major in Economics at IU Bloomington.  His banking career began with Barnett Bank in early 1993 and through various acquisitions took him to Los Angeles, California in 1999.  After 12 years of working in various positions with large money center banks to small community he banks he decided to move back to Central/Southern Indiana closer to family to complete his remaining years in this field.  He lives in Columbus and is active in the community participating on various committees and boards.  When he’s not at the office or visiting clients and projects, Eric enjoys activities with his family, as well as playing guitar, participating in CrossFit training 3 days/week and riding his motorcycles as time and weather permits.

About Brian Payne

Brian Payne serves as the executive director of CDFI Friendly Bloomington, an innovative new organization to increase access to flexible, affordable financing for community development. CDFI Friendly Bloomington helps community development financial institutions (CDFIs) invest in affordable and workforce housing, small business growth, and new community facilities in Bloomington, Monroe County, and southwest-central Indiana. Prior to his current role, Payne served as Assistant Director of the Economic and Sustainable Development Department for the City of Bloomington. In that capacity, he worked on priority economic development projects for the City, negotiated tax incentives, and supported a broad range of small business and entrepreneurship activities.

Payne came to Bloomington from the federal government, most recently as policy advisor in legislative affairs for the Department of Health and Human Services in the Obama Administration. Prior to that, Payne worked on Capitol Hill as a legislative counsel to two members of Congress. He earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in English and philosophy from Lawrence University.  Before attending law school, he worked as a teacher, social worker, and high school athletics coach.

About Steve LaMotte, Jr.

Steve LaMotte, Jr. is an Executive VP and co-leads Indianapolis Louisville Multifamily within CBRE.

Since joining CBRE in 1994, Steve has focused exclusively on the sale of apartment property throughout the Central US.  Over the last 10 years, Steve and his team have led production in their markets on large, institutional-grade, high-profile assignments.  His team is the overwhelming leader with $1.1B in volume in the Class “A” space since 2012. He is routinely included among CBRE’s top 10% of Investment Properties producers nationally and is consistently the top producer in CBRE’s Indianapolis office.

Steve sits on the Advisory Board to the IU Kelley School of Business Center for Real Estate Studies.
