ROI selected to serve as Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP) Connector

Regional Opportunity Initiatives (ROI) was announced today as one of 12 regional organizations to serve as liaisons for student and school participation in the Indiana Career Apprenticeship Pathway (INCAP), a new pathway to prepare Hoosiers for in-demand careers and help Indiana businesses find and train employees. ROI is grateful to the Richard M. Fairbanks Foundation for leading this important statewide effort to strengthen the connection between education and industry.

ROI’s role as an INCAP Connector will include recruiting high school students for INCAP apprenticeships, supporting student and school success, and interacting with Industry Talent Associations in six industries that have significant workforce needs: advanced manufacturing and logistics, banking, construction, healthcare, IT, and life sciences.

Participating students will split their time between the workplace and the classroom, with at
least 50% of their time spent on the job to help ensure they are gaining in-demand skills and
employers are realizing a return on investment. The students will be paid by their employers and
work year-round. Student recruitment for INCAP apprenticeships will begin start early next year.

Today’s INCAP announcement aligns with ROI’s ongoing UpSkill Work and Learn Youth Apprenticeship Program. Launched in 2022, UpSkill currently has over 150 apprentices participating, connecting students with paid work experiences in high-demand industries while they earn school credit and gain valuable career skills.
